My Mock drill

A mock drill is a method of practising how a building would be evacuated in the event of a fire or other emergency. Usually, the building's existing fire alarm system is activated and the building is evacuated as if the emergency had occurred. Drills and exercises are used to rehearse anticipated emergency scenarios. They are designed to provide training, reduce confusion, and verify the adequacy of emergency response activities and equipment A safety drill is a drill that is practised to prepare people for an emergency A fire drill is a method of practising how a building would be evacuated in the event of a fire or other emergency . Usually, the building's existing fire alarm system is activated and the building is evacuated as if the emergency had occurred. Generally, the time it takes to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs within a reasonable length of time, and problems with the emergency system or evacuation procedures are identified to be r...

My Emergency Evacuation plan

Emergency evacuation is the urgent immediate egress or escape of people away from an area that contains an imminent threat, an on-going threat or a hazard to lives or property. Examples range from the small scale evacuation of a building due to a storm or fire to the large scale evacuation of a city because of a flood, bombardment or approaching weather system . In situations involving hazardous materials or possible contamination , evacuees may be decontaminated prior to being transported out of the contaminated area Emergency evacuation plans are developed to ensure the safest and most efficient evacuation time of all expected residents of a structure, city, or region. A benchmark "evacuation time" for different hazards and conditions is established. These benchmarks can be established through using best practices, regulations, or using simulations , such as modeling the flow of people in a building, to determine the benchmark. Proper planning will use multip...

My Teamwork

A team is a group of people linked in a common purpose. Human teams are especially appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity and have many interdependent subtasks. A group does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Team members need to learn how to help one another, help other team members realize their true potential, and create an environment that allows everyone to go beyond his or her limitations. Teams can be broken down into from a huge team or one big group of people, even if these smaller secondary teams are temporary. A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members. Thus teams of game players can form (a...

My Skill

A skill is the ability to carry out a task with pre-determined results often within a given amount of time, energy, or both. Skills can often be divided into domain -general and domain-specific skills. For example, in the domain of work, some general skills would include time management , teamwork and leadership, self-motivation and others, whereas domain-specific skills would be useful only for a certain job. Skill usually requires certain environmental stimuli and situations to assess the level of skill being shown and used. People need a broad range of skills to contribute to a modern economy. A joint ASTD and U.S. Department of Labor study showed that through technology, the workplace is changing, and identified 16 basic skills that employees must have to be able to change with it Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable humans to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life. The concept is also called psychosocial compete...

My Solar Integration

In electrical grids , a power system network integrates transmission grids , distribution grids , distributed generators and loads that have connection points called busses. A bus in home circuit breaker panels is much smaller than those used on the grid, where busbars can be 50 mm in diameter in electrical substations . Traditionally, these grid connections are unidirectional point to multipoint links. In distributed generation grids, these connections are bidirectional, and the reverse flow can raise safety and reliability concerns. Features in smart grids are designed to manage these conditions. A premises is generally said to have obtained grid connection when its service location becomes powered by a live connection to its service transformer. A power station is generally said to have achieved grid connection when it first supplies power outside of its own boundaries. However, a town is only said to have achieved grid connection when it is connected to several ...

My Habits

A habit (or wont ) is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. The American Journal of Psychology (1903) defines a "habit, from the standpoint of psychology, [as] a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience." Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habits are sometimes compulsory. New behaviours can become automatic through the process of habit formation . Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form because the behavioural patterns which humans repeat become imprinted in neural pathways, but it is possible to form new habits through repetition. When behaviors are repeated in a consistent context, there is an incremental increase in the link between the context and the action. This increases the automaticity of the beh...

My Leadership

A leader is someone who has the authority to tell a group of people what to do. In the simplest sense, a leader is somebody whom people follow. A group with no leader is called leaderless . A leader is one who gets others to take action towards a common goal .One job of a leader is to govern the actions of followers.A leader also represents a group or company. For example, the Prime Minister of Canada has the authority to govern the society of Canada and represent the people of Canada. He is a leader Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill encompassing the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations. The literature debates various viewpoints: contrasting Eastern and Western approaches to leadership, and also (within the West) US vs. European approaches. US academic environments define leadership as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and suppo...

My Diamond Employee

Black's Law Dic- tionary defines “ employee ” as “a person in the service of another under any contract of hire, express or implied, oral or written, where the em- ployer has the power or right to control and di- rect the employee in the material details of how the work is to be performed.” Employment is a relationship between two parties , usually based on a contract where work is paid for, where one party, which may be a corporation , for profit , not-for-profit organization , co-operative or other entity is the employer and the other is the employee .Employees work in return for payment , which may be in the form of an hourly wage, by piecework or an annual salary , depending on the type of work an employee does or which sector she or he is working in. Employees in some fields or sectors may receive gratuities , bonus payment or stock options . In some types of employment, employees may receive benefits in addition to payment. Benefits can include health insurance...

My Energy Sector

The organization of the electrical sector of a country or region varies depending on the economic system of the country. In some places, all electric power generation, transmission and distribution is provided by a government controlled organization. Other regions have private or investor-owned utility companies, city or municipally owned companies, cooperative companies owned by their own customers, or combinations. Generation, transmission and distribution may be offered by a single company, or different organizations may provide each of these portions of the system India's power sector is one of the most diversified in the world. Sources of power generation range from conventional sources such as coal, lignite, natural gas, oil, hydro and nuclear power to viable non-conventional sources such as wind, solar, and agricultural and domestic waste The electric power industry is commonly split up into four processes. These are electricity generation such as a power stati...

My Energy Star Way 2

Energy Star (trademarked ENERGY STAR ) is an international standard for energy efficient consumer products originated in the United States . It was created in 1992 by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy . Since then, Australia , Canada , Japan , New Zealand , Taiwan , and the European Union have adopted the program. Devices carrying the Energy Star service mark, such as computer products and peripherals, kitchen appliances, buildings and other products, generally use 20–30% less energy than required by federal standards. In the United States, the Energy Star label is also shown on EnergyGuide appliance label of qualifying products. Energy Star specifications differ with each item, and are set by either the Environmental Protection Agency or the Department of Energy. The following highlights product and specification information available on the Energy Star website. About Standards & Labeling Program The Objectives of Standards &...
